Metcalf-Franklin Farm Farmhouse
The historic restoration of this 1857 farmhouse is the first step in converting Franklin Farm into a museum and community resource.
The aim of our project was to preserve the unique barn structure that tells of life from 1810 to 1930. Martone performed a complete exterior restoration, rebuilding chimneys down to the roofline, installing a new wood shingled roof, making structural repairs, and rebuilding the front porch. Our team removed vinyl windows, installed originals that had been in storage, and restored window sashes. To finish, we chemically stripped existing paint coatings to bare wood, conducted a historical paint analysis, and repainted to simulate the original.
