Rhode Island State House
Boasting the fourth largest unsupported marble dome in the world, the State House is the most magnificent building in Providence.
Martone managed the complex restoration of the prominent historic mural on the dome’s interior, after it suffered substantial water damage. Scaffolding was engineered freestanding 200-feet high to reach the top without disruption to the historic architecture. Restoration involved removing deteriorated plaster, creating new molds to duplicate originals, conservation cleaning, reattaching historic paint, applying conservation clear, gilding, and repainting missing pieces to match the original artist’s work.
